Laser Liposuction Cost and Price Factors

As laser liposuction gains in popularity, it increases in affordability!

How Much Does Laser Lipo Cost?

Although generally less expensive than traditional liposuction, the actual cost will vary depending on the type of laser liposuction, your geographic location, and your particular physician.

Different types of laser liposuction, and the average treatment cost for each.

SmartLipo

Probably the best-known method, its average cost per treatment is $4,228.

CoolLipo

The "cool" in its name is derived from its use of a lower-frequency wavelength. Average cost per treatment: $2,317.

Lifesculpt, formerly known as SlimLipo, uses a combination of wavelengths and a larger laser fiber. Average cost per treatment: $4,500.

LipoLite

Uses a 1064 nm wavelength. Average cost per treatment: $1,500.

LASER LIPOSUCTION: SPECIFIC ADDITIONAL COSTS

In addition to the regular fees as outlined above, you may also incur extra charges for anesthesia, use of facility, compression garments, and postoperative care. The cost of anesthesia for lipoplasty can range between $500 and $1,000, and facility fees will normally vary between $600 and $1,200.

Please ask your doctor whether such charges will be additional or included in the basic fee.

LASER LIPO OVERSEAS

In Europe, where laser liposuction originated, prices can be somewhat lower than in the United States. Many Asian countries offer laser lipo at rock-bottom prices. In Thailand, for example, such surgery is available at nearly half the going U.S. rate.

The downside? You'll likely find fewer qualified surgeons at your disposal, and vetting them from a distance might prove difficult. Make sure to ask for references, and when you get them, follow up!

Request that the surgeon in question provide photos, and try to ensure that the surgery displayed in those photos was actually performed by that particular surgeon. A little research up front can prevent a lot of grief later on down the road.

LASER LIPO: FINANCING ALTERNATIVES

Because insurance companies will not cover cosmetic procedures, you may want to consider a medical loan for your laser liposuction. According to the experts at MyMedicalLoan.com, the amount covered by such a loan can range from a low of $1,000 to a high of $25,000.

When secured by your home, medical loans can be had for an interest rate as low as 1.5 percent. You can expect a rate of about 9.9 percent on an unsecured medical loan, but it is not uncommon today to find offers of zero percent financing for the first six months.

For any medical loan, a term of between 12 and 48 months is considered the norm.

LASER LIPOPLASTY: CHEAPER IS NOT NECESSARILY BETTER

As you can see, the cost of laser liposuction can vary widely. It's important to realize that cheaper is not always better! The price you are quoted for lipoplasty will reflect the experience and track record of the surgeon performing the procedure.

As in anything else, you get what you pay for, and where laser liposuction is concerned, your body, health and safety must always take precedence.
