11. International Confederation for Plastic Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery (IPRAS)
Founded in 1955 by two plastic surgeons, the IPRAS was organized for the primary purpose of allowing the exchange of scientific and medical information on a global scale.
Comprised of all the leading plastic surgery organizations throughout the world, the IPRAS fosters the concept of friendship among surgeons as opposed to competition. It is this belief system that led to the development of the Quadrennial Scientific Congress. This Congress is a forum wherein surgeons can bring their new ideas, research, and investigative data to the attention of their peers. It is an amazing learning opportunity and the best part is that it is open to all members. Therefore, surgeons who practice in less developed countries can attend and gain knowledge that might otherwise be unavailable to them.
