This is the leading organization for cosmetic surgeons because it is the only organization that represents cosmetic surgeons in the American Medical Association (AMA). It is able to provide this service via its seat in the AMA's House of Delegates.
Founded in 1985, the AACS's membership includes dermatological surgeons, plastic surgeons, oral surgeons, general surgeons, facial plastic surgeons, and ocular plastic surgeons.
The common factor among all these different types of surgeons is that they all specialize in cosmetic surgery.
