4. The American Board of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery (ABFPRS)

This is an organization that certifies facial plastic and reconstructive surgeons.

It is also the organization that certifies surgeons as part of the requirement for admittance to the AARFPS, which is discussed below.

Established in 1986, the ABFRPS was created to improve the quality of surgical treatment available to the public. This goal is accomplished by developing and implementing education, qualification, training, and certification programs.

When a surgeon applies to be certified by the ABFPRS, they must first prove that they meet the established standards of qualification and then after a thorough evaluation, the candidate can be issued a certificate. Providing, of course, that they meet the requirements.

This should be the first certification obtained by a facial plastic and reconstructive surgeon. After this has been attained, the surgeon should then become a member of the AAFRPS.

Being certified by both of these organizations is a great way to ensure the public that a surgeon is reputable.
